RECOMM V1.0 Freeware (f) 22.12.1993 (sorry for my bad English)
(the software has german messages and dialogs!, but you can
change the sources and build your on version)
With Recomm V1.0 can you share your Modem across a NETBIOS NetWork.
Anybody on the Network can use the Modem(s).
This is only posible for pure Windows3.1 Applications. DOS Applications
are not supported. Sometimes there are Timming Problems on 14.4k Baud.
This System was tested and is used with following Hardware and Software
PEACOCK PC (386/DS) 4-8 MB
MultiTech Modem 14.4
Windows 3.1
WinCim 1.0 - 1.0.5
Delrina WinFax Pro 3.0
SmarTerm 420 3.0a
Terminal Windows 3.1
Server-Installation:
1. copy the Files in INSTALL to your windows directory
2. add the serverprogramm to WIN.INI
[windows]
load=recomsrv.exe
3. add the port wich should access the remote port in recomm.ini
for example
[PORT]
COM=COM2
4. start windows
If somebody accesses the Com-Port from an diffrent PC it is not possible to
use a DOS Application for longer as 2-3 min, otherwise you become
Timeout Problems on the Client and the Server.
Client-Installation:
1. copy the Files in INSTALL to your windows directory
2. add the remotemodule in your SYSTEM.INI
[BOOT]
comm.drv=recomm.dll
3. add in system.ini the portnumber wich should access the remoteport.
the portnumbers of the Client and the Server have not to be the same.
for example
[RECOMM]
Port=1
4. start Windows
5. start your Application which should use the RemotePort
If you acces the RemotePort, you can choose one of the Servers in a
PopupDialog. If you don't choose a Server in about 30 sec. the last
Server you used will be accessed automaticly.
If you want to use always the same Server without this popupDialog
add the following Line in your recomm.ini
[HOST]
USE=RS_XYZNAME
The Name of the Server is always RS (RemoteServer) an the Netbios Name
of the Server.
